Posted By: Sara Chiamulera Fall Regional,

Join Presenters: Zach Hassler (WI DMA OEC) and Jessica Frye & Rebecca Nordine (GeoComm) to learn

more about the current state of GIS for NG911 in Wisconsin. This session will focus on the progress being made in the Wisconsin Next Generation 911 project on the GIS front, the services available to data providers under the GeoComm GIS data management services contract, how best to maintain your data going forward, and what’s next for our project!

Zach has been working for the Office of Emergency Management at the

Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs for nearly 2 years.  During that time, he has spearheaded the GIS side of the Wisconsin NextGen 911 project, working with contractors to manage GIS data for the state, consulting local GIS officials on preparing and maintaining their 911 GIS data, and preparing and presenting information about the program to all interested parties.  Before that, Zach worked at the University of Wisconsin on the Grasslands 2.0 project, as a GIS developer.  Creating web apps to help farmers transition from row based agriculture to pasture based agriculture. Before that, he worked as a GIS Lead for RayMarine, creating navigational charts, and writing script tools to simplify tasks from assigning symbology to navigation buoy features, to predicting tides all over the world for the next decade.  During his 17-year career in GIS, Zach has also worked in utility arboriculture and defense mapping.  He also just recently became a GISP.  Outside of work, Zach is an avid outdoorsman and cyclist, and he enjoys spending time with his wife Kat, and his infant daughter Ember.
