Meet Phillip Marty of Organic Valley, your speaker on How Organic Valley is Implementing GIS Solutions to Support It’s Cooperators & Enhance Business Operations.
Phil Marty is the GIS System Administrator at Organic Valley, the largest farmer-owned organic cooperative in the United States, serving over 1600 family farms. Phil is self-taught in GIS and introduced the technology to Organic Valley while answering the phones in an entry level role. Since then, he has built the cooperative’s GIS program over the past 10 years and continues to expand its impact on his organization. He has pioneered the use of satellite imagery to manage pasture and rotational grazing for Organic Valley dairy members. Spatial data and systems are now a foundational part of Organic Valley’s business systems. Phil is passionate about map automation, python integration, and GIS design. He lives in rural Vernon County with his wife and two young boys.
