It's Absolutely Smashing: Registration for the 2025 WLIA Map Contest is Open!
Can you believe it’s that time of year already? No, I’m not talking about the stuffing of large woodland fowl, or gifts exploding from the sack of a bearded man in a red suit; it’s time to decide whether that north arrow is truly necessary, refine your blend modes, and put the final polish on those maps for submission to the WLIA Annual Map Contest!
The 2025 WLIA Annual Conference takes place in Appleton from February 26th – 28th but your entry can blossom in the fabled Map Gallery starting today. This year’s conference promises to be one for the ages featuring an illustrious keynote from Ersi’s one and only John Nelson. John is renowned for his world-class maps and carto-hack videos that offer useful tips and tricks for novice and veteran map makers alike. If you don’t follow his YouTube channel, you absolutely should. It’s a blast!
Let’s show John (and the rest of the world) all the explosive maps made right here in Wisconsin by filling the gallery until it bursts! Break out of your comfort zone and get those maps in today…
And, if you’re not quite ready to submit a map, or you’re just not sure if you should, take a peek at John’s video on Smashing Neatlines for some inspiration. It’s sure to get those creative juices (over)flowing.
