Annual Keynote Announcement: Meet Xan Fredericks!
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Geospatial Program (NGP) is the national leader for trusted topographic information, providing a foundation of digital geospatial data representing the topography, natural landscape, and manmade environment of the United States. Through a variety of geospatial data and tools, NGP supplies topographic information to advance science, support government, inform citizens, and enable decision making. Come learn the story of the National Geospatial Program, from topographic maps to the 3D National Topography Model, and how the program supports the USGS as the nation’s largest civilian mapping agency. Xan will also share her own story, from her topobathymetric lidar beginnings to her current role as a National Map Liaison with NGP’s User Engagement Office.
Xan Fredericks works with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) as the National Map Liaison to Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands for the National Geospatial Program User Engagement Office. She collaborates with a variety of partners to aid the discovery and coordination of geospatial data, as well as the delivery of actionable, science-based information to resource managers, emergency responders, and the public. Xan is the Chair of the USGS Lidar User Group and Deputy Chair of the Geospatial Information Response Team.
Xan is a GISCI-certified GIS Professional with an MGIS from Penn State University and a BS in Marine Science-Geology from Eckerd College. She also serves as Co-Chair of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Bathymetry Working Group. Prior to her current role, Xan was the Lidar Coordinator for the USGS Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program.
Xan will join us on Thursday morning at the opening Plenary. For more information about the agenda, visit our Conference Schedule page and keep up with all of our announcements on the Event Page.
