Spring Regional Spotlight: Maintaining Your Data after NG911 Implementation
Another great presentation that will be featured at this year's Spring Regional Meeting will have Paul Bernard from Wood County discussing how to Maintain Your Data After NG911 Implementation.
Any data steward can tell you that preparing GIS datasets for NG911 is far more involved than simply edge-matching boundaries, passing the 98% GIS/ALI match-rate and uploading data into the NG911 system. After all, NG911 implements a very high standard on some of the most vital foundational elements in the Wisconsin, National and International Geospatial Communities. Data in the NG911 system must be made available in a timely manner, must be accurate and of course, must adhere to the NG911 standards. How can GIS data stewards keep up with all of these demands? This presentation will explore the different ways that Wood County has been able to keep up with the varying demands.
Paul Bernard started his career in Land Records in 2015 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography with a GIS Emphasis. He has since been employed by Lincoln and Wood Counties in various positions including Real Property Lister, GIS Specialist and Survey Technician before finally being hired as Land Records Coordinator/GIS Specialist for Wood County. Paul has enjoyed the challenges and successes that his current position brings, and has especially embraced the task of keeping up with ever-changing data standards and assignments. In addition to a Bachelor’s Degree, Paul holds a Master’s Degree in Cartography and GIS Development from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
