Students! Apply for the WLIA Damon Anderson Memorial Scholarship!
The Damon Anderson Memorial Scholarship, is now open to all Land Information, Cartography, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)-inclined post-secondary students. This year, we are offering three $2,000 scholarships for students to use in support of their 2025-2026 academic year. WLIA also offers a year-long membership, free registration to our annual conference, and a mentorship program to our scholarship winners.
View and submit an application here. Each application requires two reference letters emailed to LOR@wlia.org, with one of them coming from an academic advisor or instructor. The application process is open until Monday, June 9 at 5 p.m.
For questions on the scholarship program, contact Colter Sikora, Scholarship Committee chair.

The scholarship is hosted by the Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA) and its partner Foundation. Welcoming students to the geospatial field is one of our priorities and we also invite your school and students to engage with us to learn more about our work and the opportunities it holds!
Resources for Students
In addition to the scholarship offering, WLIA has a special Colleges and Universities team that offers content and networking opportunities to all student members. At our annual conference we hold a Career Connections session where students and new professionals can connect with geospatial leaders and employers while receiving valuable career advice. This results in students getting more familiar with the Wisconsin geospatial community. Some previous attendees have even landed jobs from this session!
WLIA also offers free membership for students!

We would love to build-up a relationship with all Wisconsin post-secondary schools and their students to offer resources and connections to help bridge the gap between education and industry. Are you interested in working with WLIA to inform students about geospatial content, events, and offerings? If so, please email our Kristen Vincent, our Colleges and Universities team chair so we can swap ideas and updates over the course of the year.
