The future of GIS and cartography is bright
What do baseball tickets, a potted plant, the Osthoff Resort, a wall map, skiing, and ice cream have in common? They are all (or related to) items I've either donated or won at the WLIA Silent Auction over the last 6 years.
While it's super fun to win cool items/experiences (or see the happy recipients of the items I donated), there is a healthy dose of satisfaction knowing that I'm also making it possible to fund student scholarships. Through the Silent Auction, 50/50 Raffle, and year-round donations to the WLIA Foundation, we've reached a point where we can fund THREE student scholarship in perpetuity. Could we make it FOUR by the end of the 2025 Annual Conference? With your help, we can!
In 2024, the WLIA Scholarship Committee awarded the Damon Anderson Memorial Scholarship to three students pursuing degrees related to land information. If you haven't already, please go read about the recipients:
After that, why not peruse the items already listed in the Silent Auction. Thanks to everyone who has donated items already! There's still time to donate items, if you've been considering it.
If you're like me, and have realized that maybe your residence is accumulating too many things, set a reminder on your phone to bring cash to the Annual Conference to participate in the 50/50 Raffle during Thursday and Friday lunch.
Thanks in advance and remember... IT'S FOR THE FUTURE!
