WI DMA-OEC Announces NextGen-911 and GIS Grants
This week the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Office of Emergency Communications (DMA/OEC) announced the application period has opened for eligible county land information offices to apply for the $1.5 million in grants available under the new competitive GIS grant program for NextGen9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) implementation. The GIS Grant Announcement includes details for submission and notes that the grant period is open until October 25th, 2022.
For specifics on grant eligibility criteria, allowable and unallowable expenses, please see the DMA/OEC GIS Grants Policy.
This spring the Governor signed SB-673 that provided an appropriation for Next Generation 911 and Geographic Information System grants after much hard work by the Wisconsin Land Information Association and many others. Without the support of the Rep. Loudenbeck, Sen. Marklein, the WLIA Board, WLIA Legislative Committee, WLIA Technical Committee and our WLIA Lobbyist, this funding may not have happened.
The NextGen-911 Task Force and WLIA Technical Committee will continue to provide avenues for insight on the work that needs to be done, so as always, watch for opportunites on our News Page and agendas at upcoming conferences.
